Update 01/04/2009   Leave a comment

We start another week of treatment tomorrow morning with radiation Monday through Friday and chemo on Tuesday. The weather here has been something to behold with much snow and ice. Very unusual which is, well, usual. But it has not prevented our trips to the clinic each day.

There have been further developments. Last Tuesday was probably the most painful day I’ve spent with this so far with a sore throat that made it difficult to swallow water. Wednesday morning it was all gone with just a dry throat. The discomfort built during the day but as of today has not approached anything near what it had been. This is supposed to be a good thing, indicating there may be some shrinkage in the tumor. Praise the Lord!

The nurses and doctors at NW Cancer assure us it will hurt more. We’ve just finished what they referred to as the honeymoon. They have also assured us that they will manage the pain, our job is to keep the food intake up to stay strong.

It takes a lot to get me off my feed….

And just another quick update – as of 01/06/2009 my blood counts are too low for another round of chemo. We will try again next Monday.
